Gin Andern – Award-Winning Alberta Craft Gin

Gin Andern is our floral, lemongrass-forward Alberta craft gin, distilled in small batches right here on the prairies. Built on our premium corn-based spirit and bottled at a full 42% alc./vol., it leads with bright lemongrass and soft floral botanicals over a juniper backbone that supports the citrus rather than burying it.

Naturally gluten-free, Gin Andern was made for people who find most gin either too piney or too neutral. Whether it’s a gin and tonic on the patio, a French 75 at a dinner party, or a slow pour over a single large cube, every sip delivers brightness and an exceptionally clean finish.

Produced in small batches at Badlands Distillery, each bottle reflects our commitment to quality ingredients, careful craftsmanship, and memorable flavour — and it’s the bottle that’s earned us the most recognition. (Also written Gin Ändern.)

Awards

Gin Andern has been recognized at San Francisco International Spirts Awards and Canadian Distillers.

Gin Andern Tasting Notes

The nose opens with fresh lemongrass and a soft floral lift, followed by citrus peel and a clean juniper note underneath. On the palate, you’ll find bright lemongrass and delicate florals balanced by gentle spice before a finish that stays crisp, dry, and long.

Unlike many London Dry gins where juniper dominates everything, our corn base is naturally smooth and lets the lemongrass lead. At 42% alc./vol., there’s enough backbone to carry the botanicals through tonic, ice, and citrus without thinning out — which is where a lower-proof gin falls apart.

Why Choose Gin Andern?

This award-winning gin is handcrafted using our premium corn-based spirit, making it naturally gluten-free while providing an exceptionally clean finish. Most gin on the shelf is built on a wheat or barley base — ours isn’t, which matters if you’re avoiding gluten.

Every bottle is produced in Alberta using small-batch methods that focus on consistency, quality, and flavour. Rather than a juniper-heavy classic profile, Gin Andern offers a bright botanical character that works as well in a highball as it does neat.

How to Drink Gin Andern

This versatile gin can be enjoyed in many different ways:

  • Pour over a large cube with a lemon twist.
  • Build a gin and tonic with a light, neutral tonic and a lemongrass stalk.
  • Shake into a French 75 with lemon and sparkling wine.
  • Stir into a dry martini with a citrus twist rather than an olive.
  • Mix with soda water and cucumber for a light highball.
  • Use it in a gimlet with fresh lime.

The Andern G&T

Fill a large wine glass with ice. Add 2 oz Gin Andern and 4 oz of a clean, low-sugar tonic. Stir once and garnish with a lemon wheel and a bruised lemongrass stalk. Use a neutral tonic — a heavily flavoured one will fight the botanicals instead of carrying them.
